Operation eve

Tomorrow is the day slated for Grace's tracheotomy. Preparation for the operation has caused the family to engage in a delicate balancing act.

On one hand, there are the storming episodes, which cause Grace's pulse to go up significantly and can't be comfortable for Grace.

On the other hand, medicines cause Grace's blood pressure to go down, they could lead to possible addiction and that doesn't mention any other side effects that strong medicines can have. Also, too much medicine in Grace's system could postpone the operation, which in turn would postpone her transfer out of ICU... Mom described Grace's medicine level as "borderline."

The family returned to church today! They felt very welcomed and encouraged by the whole experience. Worship songs for the day included the ever timely songs "Praise you in this storm" and "Never let go." And the topic of the sermon: having faith.

Dad is considering returning to work on Wednesday for the first time since the original incident.

Mom canceled her gall bladder appointment on Thursday, as her condition has improved considerably!

Please pray for:
  • Grace to walk and speak again as she completely recovers
  • Mom's continued and complete healing from any issues, gall bladder or other.
  • Grace's successful operation leading to her transfering from ICU
  • Dad's transition back to work
  • Continued financial provision for the family. (e-mail info@GraceGoodDay.com for info on how to help)
  • Peace and understanding for Grace's brothers - mom and dad plan to spend additional time with Grace after her operation.

Also, we won't link to it here for confidentiality reasons, but there is a website started by another family friend describing other specific ways that people could help the family. If interested, please e-mail info@GraceGoodDay.com and we can send you the link.

Hello Dear Friends!
How wonderful you were able to be in worship yesterday!!! Tim was so excited to tell me and to hand over the phone!
We continue to pray, today specifically for everything to be in place in such a way the surgery can happen safely and successfully...we pray for divine intervention and expertise to be upon the doctors and all who attend to Grace and the family...we pray for bedside manners that exceed all expectations...and for a hedge to come around Grace and mom and dad and the boys, keeping any sickness, discomfort, anything negative or painful out of today.
We ask all of this in the name of Jesus the Christ, our hope, our healer and our Savior now and forever, Amen.

Dear Mom and Dad,
At 1:00 today I was feeding Niko his lunch and we stopped and asked Sweet Jesus to protect Grace and guide the doctors during her procedure.
Niko and his parents have included Grace's name to their list every night and Grace's name is one of the first names little Niko says.
We all love you and believe that God will intervene.
We pray that Dad's transition back to work goes as smoothly as can be expected.
It is also such a gift from God that you, Mom, are feeling better.
Continued prayer for improvement.
I wish I could have seen you at services on Sunday but went to an earlier service. Hope to see you
Easter Sunday.
In my thoughts and prayers.

Lord, we continue to lift up each individual need. We pray for those little brothers who don't even know how to communicate their needs very well. We pray also for the family's practical needs for food and income. We ask for continued healing for Mom and wisdom and focus for Dad as he tries to plan how to best spend his limited time. We thank you for the way you orchestrated yesterday's service to meet their hearts' needs, and we pray Mom and Dad would continue to see the God moments in their life.

Above all, we lift up Grace's needs. You can calm her storms and keep her blood pressure at appropriate levels. You can steady the surgeon's hands and give wisdom to the anesthesiologist. You can soften the hearts of the nurses who will watch over her. You can wire Grace's brain as completely the second time as you did the first.

We ask these things in Jesus' name and for His glory's sake.

Amen.

Elisabeth
